ryan, I have not read the book, so I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure they are quoting s club 7 because that group is emblematic of the millenial generation, not because the authors think they are wise or sagely...I have read generations and the 4th turning, strauss and howe's previous 2 books on generational cycles and I have to say they are both brilliant, and you are wrong to reject the book because of a quote in the intro that I'm sure they are using to illustrate a point about how millenials act/think/live.

Just give the book a chance. I can't believe you'd drop a book because it opens with a quote from the source it is studying. That's kind of like picking up a book on German Fascism 1933-45 and not reading it because there happened to be a quote from Hitler on the back.

"Oh I couldn't read this book! Hitler was such a bad man! What an earth could the author be doing by quoting this?"

Honestly, that is the dumbest comment in the history of this blog. Do you know who S Club 7 is? Are you the author? What the fuck is the matter with you?

S Club 7 is arguably one of the least relevant and worst bands of the 90's. Not only do they have NOTHING to do with the Millenial generation but they were fucking created in a laboratory. AND they didn't sell any records. Are you retarded?

The only thing worse than wasting your time reading a book by authors who on the first page proved their stupidity is writing a comment defending the book that you HAVEN'T even read. Jesus Christ.

Ryan - how can you be so closed minded? S Club 7 IS emblematic of the millennial generation - don't you think that the prominence of bands like s club 7, such as the backstreet boys, 98 degrees, nsync, spice girls, etc, says something about the youth culture in the late 1990's? of course it does - strauss and howe would argue that it shows how the millennial generation is more uniform, wholesome, conformist, and team oriented then previous generations, which is, at the very least, an argument worth considering. Again, I have not read the book, but based off of their previous two books (which deal with the same subject matter), I believe this is the point they are trying to make.

Also, I should add that the only thing worse then defending a book you have not read (though again, I am quite familiar with the author's previous work), is ATTACKING a book you have not read!
