How To Build a New Media Resume - May 21, 2008
My intern* came across a strategy that impressed me quite a bit. He went to edit a Wikipedia page for a book he'd liked and found that one didn't exist. Before he created it, he emailed the author and asked if his publicist might have collected any press during its run that he'd be willing to share. Of course they did and this morning, he got a whole list of them along with a big thank you from the author.
In the process, he managed to 1) Show initiative 2) Make a connection with someone important 3) Acquire the materials to meaningfully participate within a community
THAT is how you build a new media resume.
*I'm still going through the applications. He was just the first one I connected with locally.

Great post, so simple but it just shows how going a little bit further can really set you apart.
Initiative and expanding both you and someone elses exposure at the same time is what the game is all about.
