Realigning My Priorities - April 21, 2008

There is this line in Tombstone where Wyatt asks what makes men act the way they do. Doc tells him that there's a hole so deep down the middle of some people that they'll never be able to steal, kill or hurt enough to fill it. I've got one of those holes too. A lot of people I know do. Most of us figure that because our efforts are productive that somehow makes them less desperate. It doesn't.

At least, asPalahniuk wrote, Doc's people have taken some control over their fate. At least they've got an inkling that something might be wrong. I don't think you can say the same about the graduating Law class of 2008 or the queen of the crazies. I don't want to be one of them.

They are two totally separate pursuits - production and peace. And the former will not create the later.

TOMBSTONE is all my friends and my whole family's favorite movie (at least the ones back home in Kansas). If it makes you feel any better, a sort of spiritual guru in my life said that he realized when he was about 30 (he's getting on toward 40 now) that a certain restless dissatisfaction is built into the human condition. He called it one of the mysteries of being human. That it will never quite be enough and that the only way to deal with it is to accept it.

Just a thought. It hit me like a Rugby Prop going full tilt when he said it.

Reminds me how I've been called workaholic only about 10 times in the last 2 weeks - taking a lighter workload only this week after 3 weeks of 6-7 day/ 10-14 hours a day. Which, in comparison to really hardcore business people and owners, is nothing.

Need to read more Tim Ferris.

Ho...ly....Shit

WTF is going on with Penelope Trunk? Was she always this crazy or is this a recent development?

May I never be complete.
May I never be content.
May I never be perfect.

@PCD

I'm not a fan of P.T, but I have read some of her blog posts lately due to delicious. She is a moron. I also notice that it seems she intentionally acts (or writes) to get a response. The more polarizing her posts, the better reaction ( and thus better traffic). She does seem like a complete moron, though, but one has to wonder if some of it is intentional.

At any rate, she is way overrated.

a question and a comment:
question- How are you going to go about pursuing peace?

comment- not to sound all annoyingly religious, but I honestly think that all men were created with a purpose, and that is to worship their creator(God). There's a verse in the Bible that says "For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it." That's the truth, man. Hope you find what you're looking for. It's out there. Seekers find. :)
