Oh no, Violent Acres has thrown her trademarked bitterness at me!
If I had posted and discovered that my audience was filled with people who like to drive below the speed limit and are completely oblivious to the world around them, I would have just hung it up and quit. What does it say about you that your readers are so worthless that they like to evangelize how slow they drive? “I do it on purpose, just to bother people.”
No that totally makes sense. I should leave earlier everyday so I can creep behind people who won’t get out of the way of an entirely empty lane. Sounds like the life for me! I’m just a crazy young teenager because I hate pointless waste and inefficiency. Yup, that’s just what I am, a product of the Me-Generation because I think it’s ridiculous to obstruct others.
Maturity though–that’s being a shrew who sits at a computer, drums up discussion then refuses to take part in it because she’s too good for it. It’s claiming that other people should be polite when you’re busy, everywhere except the road. Or maybe you don’t allow comments because you’re just laughable. I’m not even going to respond to the fact that you clearly can’t read. But that’s just because I don’t think I could fill it with enough random hyperbole.
We get it. You’re not like all those other people. You’re a contrarian. And you pull in $25 dollars a week from blogads by screaming Bill O’Reilly like headlines that appeal to the latent misogynists at Digg and the 4th Wavers at Gawker. Look at me! I’m different (not insecure), shower me with attention so I can ignore it.
What do I know? After all, I find lose-lose situations to be frustrating and try to avoid them.
But again, I really appreciate all 700 people you sent my way.
I find it interesting that she is extremely racist and xenophobic, and yet lists ‘killing jews’ as one of the things that is worse than driving slowly; You post was melodramatic, I must admit, but damn.
That response was ridiculous and melodramatic in its own right; Maturity, something she claims to possess, means when you read something that is laughable, as the end of your post unfortunately was, you simply chuckle and move on.
Oh, get over yourself. It’s a lot cooler when someone laughs and goes along with what Vee says as opposed to reacting the way many others have. Just F.Y.I.
Reminds me of a concept I was introduced to a few years ago – “Collusions of mediocrity”
Did anyone else notice that the first article listed under related articles concerned tailgating? It would seem that she has a problem with your article because she is one of the jackass’s that contributes to the problem you mentioned.
Anonymous,
Vee’s reaction to his post clearly calls for a response. Not replying to Vee’s attack on his character would be the exact thing Ryan is trying to avoid with his post about driving slow, mediocrity (at least that’s what I got out of it).
Jesus Christ. I didn’t see her article about tailgating. That is fucking insanity. She purposely caused a car accident because someone behind her wanted her to move over.
The fact of the matter is that some people live lives that are clearly centered around nothing, that lack direction and lack meaning. But they aren’t nihilists or depressed, in fact, they have to cling to these things to prevent the light from shining in and illuminating how atrociously pathetic they are. And thus, we see such insane reactions to someone complaining about bad drivers.
I find it interesting that all of the problems that she points out apply tenfold to her response. Maturity? You actually spend time reading another persons opinion on something as innocuous as driving slowly, nearly choke on your _bubblegum_ and then just throw down insults and expletives ad nauseum.
I would be rather disappointed in myself for clicking that link even after your little part about how dumb it was. But, happily, I did find some enjoyment from this half-retarded linguistic flailing, although it was rather uncomfortable. It’s like watching Steve Carrell on The Office: lines like the one about funny clicking sounds and the evil-ness of Tyra Banks are only funny in their completely failed attempts at any semblance of humour.
In the back of my mind, I know that such horrid people exist. I don’t know if I should thank you for alerting me to their existence, or not…
It’s true that V is a hypocrite, but that doesn’t make your entry any less ridiculous. Anyone who thinks that annoying and evil are the same thing is an idiot.
This entry was an absolute waste of time. She’s small potatoes. She got exactly what she wanted from you – a reaction and a link to her site. You made her more powerful than she actually is. The best response to this would be to smile and ignore her.
Fucking with tailgaters is fun though dangerous. It is just like….man, stop trying to CONTROL the universe, and every second of your life. You can not. It has been attempted and it won’t work. There are a lot of people in this world. You are one grain. You shouldn’t take everything lying down,of course, and you should take control of your life, but if you don’t relax about that which you can not control, you will not have the energy to face your life and all the shitty things that happen to you not matter how hard you try to prevent them or wish away.
So I hate driving fast…I was in a car accident when I was 18 and could have died or killed someone else. It was a yellow light turning red sort of thing. I am only in the left lane when necessary…passing a really slow truck or needing to make a turn…or stuck because all the drivers who want to be in the left lane won’t let merge into the right, in their desire to pass me. I always go about three miles over the speed limit….I don’t want to pay for a ticket….but this is usually about 10-15 miles too slow according to all the people who pass me on a given day. I only go under the speed limit, about five miles or so, when it is raining or snowing…I like to give myself some extra room to stop, as I grew up in a place that got massive amounts of snow and know many people that were in bad accidents, and have skidded plenty of times myself. I have driven through a lot of snow storms. What’s wrong with wanting a few extra feet in front of me…..when going interstate speeds, a stop ahead due to an accident or whatever, that does equal death once in a while. My boyfriend is a fast driver. I am glad he likes to drive but I hate cutting it close.
I guess I always assumed those people driving slowly in the left lane were some combination of ignorant, rude, and ‘slow’, and they didn’t know how to use computers. But apparently a few of them have discovered this new fangled tool called the ‘internets.’ How unfortunate for the rest of us.
just repeat what Chris said here, well put.
I agree with Anonymous :
It’s true that V is a hypocrite, but that doesn’t make your entry any less ridiculous. Anyone who thinks that annoying and evil are the same thing is an idiot.
cheers
Holy SHIT what a stupid post, (hers, not yours). I’ve never heard of this bitch before, is she in any way famous? I mean, she obviously can’t be too be famous if I haven’t heard about her until now, but you said “thanks for the 700,” does she SERIOUSLY have that many readers? What’s her appeal?
Is she gunning for Mencia’s spot as Utterly Talentless Asshole With an Inexplicably Large Fanbase?
Does anyone know how to read?
The point is not that driving slow is evil. The point is that purposely causing problems for other people, tearing them down because you enjoy it, is utter evil. It has no justification, no possible rationalization–all it is, is enjoying hurting others for its own sake. We can call intrinsic evil or an intrinsic wrong.
Listen to these people, they drive slow ONLY to harm other people. The traffic problem itself is not evil, but the attitude certainly is.
BLOGFIGHT BLOGFIGHT
First of all, “she’s” a he, posting from his brother’s basement somewhere in Georgia because he still lives at home. Every word, every story “she” tells is absolute bullshit, which really, should be obvious when you read it. Does it read like a woman wrote it? Do women writers remind their readers that they are women with the frequency that VA does? Don’t be stupid.
Secondly, he feeds on attention. Cut off his oxygen supply and he’ll move on to some other overly sensitive, hysterical blogger. Settle down and let it go.
I just want to say Violent Acres is my favorite site and I read it daily. I also agree that slow sunday drivers suck. I do not agree with your opinion of Vee. She rocks!
Jesus christ, does that bitch realize the right lane is called the Suicide Lane for a reason? Reason being, it’s not to be used as a PASSING LANE. Her opinion that the right lane is ”clear to pass” isn’t reason enough to cause wrecks (not accidents) on purpose.
Fucking cooze.
Believe it or not, I actually read her blog and like it. I’ve tagged some of her stuff to people. But then I found out she purposely causes accidents because she’s so fucking miserable–which makes me question the validity of her arguments.
As I’m sure you’re already aware, V took a break from reminding everyone that she’s a tough woman who says it like it is to respond to your post and it is, I gotta say, significantly dumber than her first.
I don’t want to link to her, so I’ll do some up-summing.
-She opens with something like “Yea, I get that your article was supposed to be a representation of your feelings towards mediocrity in general, I GET IT. I swear I get it. You guys, I got it before and I still totally get it now, even more.” What follows is a very poorly-worded contradiction to that sentence.
-She says that you, personally, should never write down anything because someone has already thought and said everything that you think. She then says that she’s in the same boat, (specifically, the boat full of people who shouldn’t write out their ideas). Then, she writes a whole lot. It’s been awhile since I’ve taken a logic class, but I’m pretty sure that that doesn’t follow…
-She brings up 50 Cent and inadvertedly proves that you’re the next Socrates. Who knew.
-My absolute favorite moment is when she brings Tucker into it and the fact that his show is cancelled. She wonders how you will “spin” this story…
“Tucker Max cancels his own TV show to focus on his movie and second book.” Good luck with that one, boss, I would NOT want to be in your shoes.
Wow. I couldn’t believe i was really reading that girl’s article on tailgaters at first. I cannot believe that there are people out there who are so wound up in their retentive anger, yet can make light of it and act like its cute and righteous to be a dangerous bitch.
All she needs to do is stop acting like she- who causes accidents- is the safe one here. Drivers Ed and defensive driving school will teach you that puposely impeding other drivers is a considered a form of aggressive driving just like the tailgaiting and is JUST as dangerous.
At least she can admit she’s immature.
Just like to point out that even if a person is being a hypocrite, that doesn’t negate the argument they are making.
Then why do we have the label hypocrite?
“Anyone who drives slower than us is an asshole. Anyone who drives faster than us is a maniac.”
-George Carlin (paraphrased)
“There are limits to my hypocrisy…”
-Doc Holiday (at least the movie version, Tombstone)
“It would appear my hypocrisy knows no bounds.”
-Doc Holiday (later in same movie)
Driving up on someone’s ass will not elevate you above mediocrity. A delusion of superiority will give you the justification though. I know in your original post you did not say you crawled up this poor schmuck’s ass. You merely wailed, gnashed your teeth, and lamented the Highway Gods. I suggest you read the book “Why Bad Things Happen To Good People”. Perhaps you could write a book titled “Why Superior People Must Suffer The Mediocre and Inferior.” It should sell well, because the average person considers themselves the persecuted superior.
By the way I’m one those 700 that V sent over. I’m glad she did because I like your stuff.
Bill,
Glad to have you. If you like Tombstone, the book Doc Holliday by Matt Braun is a good read (albeit trashy)
Honestly, let’s say I am a huge speeder and I regularly break traffic laws. Even then, I wouldn’t be causing accidents on purpose–they would be my fault, but they would still be accidents. It’s a new low to crash into other people because you’re desperate for human contact.
A person has got to maintain a safe following distance.
That is a good point V makes. If you cannot safely stop if the person in front of you has to slam on their brakes, you are either driving too fast or following them too closely. You are in the wrong.
There is a reason why you should drive to the conditions.
Speeding is illegal and dangerous. No matter how good you might think you are, you do not control the universe. A tyre could blow out. A dog could run across the road. Anything could happen.
Hopefully one day the tailgaters and speeders will realize that accidents can happen. Accidents can hurt and kill people. And even though you want to claim “accident”, the reality is that your speeding killed someone.
I’m one of the “700″ although a day late it would seem. But I agree with V.
Hi Ryan,
I apologize deeply for my last post. I realize that I didn’t even address the part of your rebuttal where you referred to my post http://www.violentacres.com/archives/56/pet-peeve-2-tailgaters. Clearly deliberately tailgating someone is more intentionally malicious than some old person driving slowly without really thinking about what they are doing to the traffic flow.
However, that is no excuse for my being a cunt of ages by causing accidents by slamming my brakes while being tailgated. That obviously voids my entire point of being my being “mature” about my “reaction” to a situation, as opposed to you. You never deliberately rear-ended a person for going to slowly (whether they were driving slowly intentionally or not), and yet I deliberately caused accidents because someone annoyed me by tailgating my vehicle.
Call me a cunt, I’m sorry. Next time I attempt to attack your rebuttal, I’ll be sure to not leave out key points, which as a result ends up making me look like a true fool

I don’t seem to be able to figure out which side you are actually on, because the majority of what you say applies to both. But I have a few points to make.
1. I have not come across one instance of people driving slow to annoy or harm other people, without provocation.
2. In rush hour conditions, it is those who rush through traffic that slow everyone else down. I’ve spent many a day in the rush our, watching people get cut up by impatient drivers, only to have to brake and slow everyone behind….get that several times in a line of traffic and you have a traffic jam. The irony is, I generally see those people who have actively been putting people at risk by their driving, ten miles down the road and they’re only three cars ahead. WELL DONE!
3. If someone is tailgating you, they’re putting your life at risk. Your LIFE! I think being just a little annoyed is more than justified. The safest thing to do in that situation is to slow down. But then personally I don’t appreciate people ignorantly endangering my existance, there’s nothing annoys me more than tailgaters, so I slow down for that reason alone, safety comes second. Sounds fair in my book. And if you hit the brakes, maybe it’ll teach them a listen and you could be unknowingly saving an innocent life.
4. Rushing will do you no good. Moan about the slower drivers on the internet all you like, but getting stressed out in your car will not get you anywhere faster. It might get you or someone else killed, but it won’t shave any time off your journey.
Sorry, but VA’s blog is 10 times more interesting than yours will ever be.
Admittedly, I came here to see what the drama was about, and was rather disappointed to see how utterly boring, selfish, and twatty you are. Don’t bother replying to this comment, by the way, I will never visit your blog again.
