It's obvious that the MSM is on the way out, but what are some good online news sources that aren't affiliated with MSM that can be trusted to not make these stupid mistakes? I wrote up an article of <a href="http://mavx.livejournal.com/163480.html" rel="nofollow">some soldiers rescuing some puppies stranded by a tornado</a> and sent it in to the local paper. Not surprisingly, the paper published the whole thing, almost verbatim, and listed the author as "contributed". Even funnier still, they never even bothered to contact me regarding the validity or accuracy of the article. They just published what I had written and accepted it on face value. Glad I inspire that kind of trust. I considered legal action, but I decided against it because, really, how often do newspapers publish positive stories about troops? Besides, it's not like the paper that published it was renowned for its high journalistic standards (The Dothan, Alabama "Eagle") I had something similar happen to me once.
